The Former President's Approach Pose a Danger to Our Social Fabric.

His national and international policies – from the effort to overturn the election five years ago to latest actions and threats – undermine both national and global legal frameworks. The implications are broader.

These actions threaten the fundamental meaning of what we mean by.

A moral purpose of a functioning society is to stop the stronger from preying upon and using the weaker. Otherwise, we would be permanently immersed in a brutish war where survival of the strongest prevails.

This concept is central of the Declaration and Constitution. It’s also the foundation of the global system established after WWII advocated by the United States, emphasizing collective action, democratic governance, human rights, and the legal authority.

Yet, it is a delicate principle, easily violated by those who choose to misuse their power. Upholding it necessitates that the influential have a sense of duty to avoid seeking immediate gains, and that the rest of us demand responsibility when they fail.

Unchecked strength does not make right. It makes for uncertainty, chaos, and war.

Whenever people or corporations or countries that are wealthier and stronger target and use those that are not, the framework of civilization unravels. If these actions are not contained, the structure collapses. Allowing it to persist, the world can fall into disorder and conflict. History provides ample precedent.

Today, we live in a society and world with deepening divides. Authority and resources are more concentrated than in modern history. This encourages the powerful to exploit the weaker because they feel above the law.

The resources of a handful of tycoons is staggering. The reach of major corporations in technology, energy, and aerospace covers a vast portion of the world. Advanced technology is likely to further concentrate resources and influence to a greater degree. The destructive power of the major powers is unprecedented in the annals of time.

Enabled by a compliant faction and a pliant supreme court, the highest office has been transformed into the supreme and answerable-to-none instrument of government in recent memory.

Combine these factors and you perceive the looming crisis.

A direct line ties previous lawless actions to ongoing menaces. These were premised on the arrogance of absolute power.

One observes much the same in international affairs: in territorial invasions, in expansive ambitions, and in the worldwide exploitation by massive conglomerates.

However, raw power does not establish right. It fosters uncertainty, revolution, and war.

History shows that frameworks designed to constrain the powerful also shield them. If these guardrails are removed, their insatiable demands for increased control and resources eventually cause their collapse – and with them their enterprises, countries, or domains. And threaten world war.

This kind of disregard for rules will haunt international stability – and the very idea of a rules-based order – for a long time.
