Thomas Tuchel has chosen to retain the identical Three Lions selection that secured victory against Andorra and produced a stellar performance in Serbia during the previous international break, finding no place for Jude Bellingham and the Manchester City attacker in his group for the forthcoming exhibition match against Wales and the qualifying match in the Baltic nation.
Despite Foden making a strong case for a recall after regaining his top condition at his club, and Jude Bellingham having made a comeback for his Spanish club following shoulder surgery, the national team manager has opted not to including two of the nation's most prominent offensive stars. Bellingham has been in the starting lineup only once for his club since his return.
Tuchel has made room for the Arsenal winger, who is fully recovered and has been restored in place of his unavailable Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke. The experienced attacker has not received a return to the squad.
Tuchel highlighted the energy in last month's squad and appears determined to keeping the same atmosphere. The Newcastle defender, who started at left-back in the convincing victory in Serbia, has been ruled out due to a knock. Tuchel has opted against selecting a direct replacement for the Newcastle player but has included John Stones, who had to withdraw last month. He has discussed the centre-back's significance for England and has suggested using him in midfield.
There is no place for Adam Wharton, who was called up in the previous squad but withdrew injured and was replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The manager stated: “It was only three weeks since the last camp and the most recent victory, the latest display, so the question was why not bring the identical squad in because they established a benchmark. Now it is about creating habits out of it. We have unfortunately two injuries at the moment with Livramento and Madueke and we welcome of course the Arsenal forward in to replace Madueke. The defender was a late call-up previously; he will remain with the squad.”
